What is modern quilting?
There are as many answers to this question as there are modern quilters, but here are a few characteristics of modern quilts from The Modern Quilt Guild’s website:
Who can join the Bainbridge Island Modern Quilt Guild?
Anyone with an interest in modern quilting. Beginners are welcome. You will find lots of inspiration in this group.
I’m a new quilter. Am I out of my league?
No worries. Our Guild is friendly and encouraging and we’re excited to see new quilters just getting
started. No quilting experience is required to become a member. You can come to a meeting before you’ve even completed your first quilt!
What is a Sew In?
A Sew In is open sewing time where members work on their own projects in a friendly atmosphere of quilting and chatting! Our Sew Ins are from 11 am to 4 pm the second Sunday of the month except May (Mother’s Day). We supply the tables and chairs, irons, cutting mats. You bring a machine, a project, your sewing tools and a lunch. Donations of treats are always welcomed! November Sew-In is for the local team of American Hero Quilts.
What’s a typical meeting like?
So far our meetings are part of our Sunday Sew Ins. We meet at 1:00 for the meeting. Sharing closes the meeting and we move on to working on quilting projects. Bring your snack or brown bag lunch. Locations vary so check the Calendar page.
I do not live on Bainbridge Island, can I come to your Sew Ins?
Absolutely. We have members from all over Kitsap County and the Olympic Peninsula.
What does it cost?
You are welcome as a guest to 2 meetings/Sew Ins. After that, we’d love for you to become a member at $60/year. Membership runs from January to December and is pro-rated to $30 after June 30. Find our membership form here.
