BAINBRIDGE QUILT FESTIVAL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
BIMQG organizes the Bainbridge Island Quilt Festival begun in September 2013 by local fabric store owner Barbara Kirk.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How/where will the quilts be hung?
We will be hanging quilts at Winslow Green. They will be hung outside. The quilts will be hung with binder clips from lines or poles, depending on the situation. Because the quilts will be outside, many in uncovered spaces, you should not submit a quilt to the show that you don’t want exposed to weather.
How will security be handled?
Throughout the day, two volunteers in two-hour shifts will be responsible for an assigned section show to watch over the quilts. Volunteers wear lime green aprons so you can check with them on details about the quilts. They also have ballots for the VIEWER"S CHOICE Award.
What happens if it rains?
If we predict ahead of time (a few days before) if Festival day will be rainy, we will only hang quilts in covered areas protected from the rain. Eagle Harbor Congregational Church offers space for display in bad weather. We plan to hold the event in whatever way we can, no matter what the weather, while protecting the quilts. If it rains unexpectedly on the day of the event, we will take the quilts down as fast as possible so they don’t get drenched.
Can you submit a quilt if you don’t live on Bainbridge Island?
Yes, indeed, you can! Guidelines for submission are on this website. You will be notified of delivery dates, drop off and return place. Registration is open June 30-August 31.
How many quilts will be displayed?
We have a cap of 210 quilts this year. Four quilts can be entered per registration fee paid.
Are quilts for sale?
Quilters may offer their creations for sale. All sales are handled between buyer and seller. BIMQG will not handle and sales. Contact information about sales can be had at the Information Booth.
Are there prizes?
BQF is a non-judged event. However. we do have a small gift for the VIEWER'S CHOICE PRIZE.
How can I help?
Enter quilt(s), volunteer without entering a quilt, donate to the Guild, become a sponsor. Volunteer spots open with registration on June 30th.
